(Yemen + Pakistan) The Logo inauguration ceremony of Global Islamic Microfinance Forum held
in Sana’a, the capital city of Yemen and Lahore, Pakistan. In Yemen, the Logo was inaugurated by the
Managing Director of Yemen Microfinance Network (YMN)
- Ms. Najah Almugahed whereas in Pakistan, it was inaugurated by the Chief Executive Officer of World
Congress of Muslim Philanthropists (WCMP) - Dr. Tariq Cheema. It should be noted that Global Islamic
Microfinance Forum would be held on 8 - 10 December, 2012 at Convention Centre – Dubai, UAE. A huge
number of delegates from the Banks and Microfinance Institutions like Al-Amal Microfinance Bank, Al
Tadamun Microfinance Bank, Social development Fund Yemen, National Microfinance Foundation, Aden
Microfinance Foundation, Alkuraimi Islamic Microfinance and Economic development fund etc. have
participated in this logo inauguration ceremony in Yemen. While addressing to the inaugural ceremony,
Ms. Najah Almugahed appreciated the step of AlHuda Centre of Excellence in Islamic Microfinance to
organize Global Islamic Microfinance Forum and said that the microfinance industry would be more
established through this Forum. While addressing to the inaugural ceremony, Chairman of Yemen
Microfinance Network - Mr. Al-Lai has declared the strategy of AlHuda Centre of Excellence in Islamic
Microfinance for the promotion of Islamic Microfinance as a very good step for the industry which will
amplify the awareness and promotion of Islamic Microfinance.
The logo inauguration ceremony of forum in Pakistan was attended by Islamic Microfinance Industry of
Pakistan in which different constituents from Microfinance institutions participated including Dr. Amjad
Saqib, Executive Director – Akhuwat, Ms. Fareeda Tariq, Chief Executive Officer - Wasil, Mr. Shahid I.
Mohammad, President – Naymet Islamic Microfinance, Mr. Aamir Yousaf, Director – Naymet Islamic
Microfinance, Ms. Zareen Iqbal – Asasah, Mr. Imran Jafery – Meri Awaz NGO, Mr. Hammad Rasool,
Director – AlHuda CIBE, Dr. Zahid – COMSAT, Mr. Muhammad Mubarak, Executive Director – Agahe and
Mr. Muhammad Khushnood – NRDP. While addressing to the Logo inauguration ceremony, Mr. Tariq
Cheema said that Islamic Microfinance is growing rapidly all around the world and the forum like this
would further strengthen this industry whereas Mr. Amjad Saqib said that 150000 people in Pakistan
are getting benefits of Islamic Microfinance and with respect to Islamic Microfinance, Pakistan is an
emerging market.
The Chief Executive Officer of AlHuda Centre of Islamic Banking and Economics, Mr. Muhammad Zubair
Mughal said that AlHuda Centre of Excellence in Islamic Microfinance is working on a strong strategy
for the promotion of Islamic Microfinance and prior to the Global Islamic Microfinance Forum; road
shows in this connection will be organized in Yemen, Azerbaijan, UAE, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Nigeria
and Ghana so that the institutions could be invited for Global Islamic Microfinance Forum from all over
the world. He further said that delegates from more than 25 countries are participating in this forum in
which the global policies of Islamic Microfinance would be finalized. Forum will be held on 8 th December
in Dubai whereas a specialized training workshop on Islamic Microfinance would be held on 9 – 10
December, 2012. |
